Dental implant restoration options for missing teeth

The following restorative treatments can improve both your oral health and smile. Keep reading to find out more.

Dental crowns

Sometimes, the teeth are in such bad shape that dental crowns on their own are not able to restore or renew the tooth. In these cases, the dental team may recommend an implant crown. This implant restoration combines the benefits of dental crowns with the stability of a titanium post in the jawbone, stimulating the bone tissue and preventing future issues with oral function.

After the patient has successfully healed from the placement procedure, the dentist will place a permanent dental crown with an abutment on top of the titanium post. The restoration replaces the original tooth’s structure, allowing for an improved appearance and oral function.

Dentures

Just like with dental crowns, dentures are often unable to be used if a person has unhealthy teeth. However, full sets of dentures can be supported and secured in place. These restorations are referred to as implant-supported dentures.

Similar to implant crowns, the dentist can place the fixed dentures after the patient has fully healed. A dental lab will custom create the dentures to specifically fit the patient’s mouth. Once the dentures are snapped into place, natural eating, confident smiling and good oral health can be achieved again.

Bridges

Another implant restoration is dental bridges. This prosthetic closes the gap between two teeth. Fixed bridges can help restore a decayed or missing tooth.
